The news is GOOD!!

I havent mentioned this before in my blog (mostly because I just started) but my mum has been going through treatment for breast cancer.

It has been a long road to recovery but shes a tough old bird and pulled through relatively hitch free.  My sisters and I banded together and provided each other with some sturdy shoulders to lean on...and some comic relief of course (being the best way we really know how to deal...).

Well today my mum had her first appointment at the oncology department and the Manukau Super Clinic and I guess we were both a bit jittery at first, wondering what kind of treatment she would have to endure this time around.

The wait was short (Thank God!) and we were shown straight to the examination room where we met the doctor...his name escapes me now but to be honest I wasnt really looking to find out his name, I only wanted him to get to the point and let us get on with it.

After examining my mum he sat down at his desk and waited for the nurse to dress mums operation site.  When she (mum) had dressed he turned to her and started to explain what he thinks the next course of action would be.  Looking at each other mum and I braced ourselves and armed up with questions at the ready. 

Deep breaths in, deep breaths out...

Then came the best news we had heard in a long time..."I dont feel you need to undergo any chemotherapy or hormone treatment" he said, "It would actually be in your best interest to NOT follow up with these medications, as in my opinion, it would most definately do more harm than good."  Whoa!

You could almost cut the elation we were feeling with a knife!

It was awesome to know that mum wouldnt have to endure more torturous procedures and no more appointments for the next six months.  Yay!!
